AAIP fees have changed

As of April 1, 2024, AAIP fees have changed. Read the AAIP updates page for details. New fees apply to applications, requests and Expressions of Interest submitted on or after April 1, 2024. AAIP is working to update the fee amount information on its How to Apply and After you are nominated pages for all streams.

Tourism and Hospitality Stream intake

Due to even higher volume than expected for the first phase of the Tourism and Hospitality stream, our initial threshold has now been met. The next intake stage will be opened once these applications have been reviewed. Check back for information on the second intake phase coming soon.

Applications created but not yet completed will still be considered part of the first intake and will be accepted when complete.

Alberta Opportunity Stream intake paused

On February 15, 2024, the Alberta Advantage immigration Program temporarily paused Alberta Opportunity Stream application intake until further notice. Read the AAIP updates page for details.

Portal outages

The AAIP portal will be unavailable from 6:00 pm Thursday, April 11 to 12:00 am Friday, April 12 (Mountain Standard Time (MST).

Regular system maintenance for the Alberta Advantage immigration Program occurs Fridays from 11 pm to Sundays at 7 pm (Mountain Standard Time (MST)).  Unplanned system outages may also occur.  If you are unable to access the portal or experience issues, please try again later.

Technical issues

If you are unable to submit your application or post-decision request due to technical issues, unable to view your application in the portal or have fee payment issues (excluding during portal outages), send the following information and documents to aaipoffice@gov.ab.ca:

  • A description of the issue and the time(s) you experienced it.
  • Screenshots of error messages or incorrect of missing information in the AAIP portal.
  • A list of all the email addresses and usernames you or others have used to create an Alberta.ca Account on your behalf. For each email address and user name state whether the Alberta.ca Account attached to it is deactivated or active and whether a draft application was created or an application was submitted using that account.
  • Confirmation of the email address you want to use on your AAIP application moving forward. This will also be the email used by the AAIP for all future correspondence.
  • If applying to the Alberta Express Entry Stream or Accelerated Tech Pathway, you must also provide the email address where we sent you the email inviting you to apply and your current and past federal Express Entry profile number(s).
  • If you have a fee payment issue, provide a copy of any receipts received from Service Alberta.

The IT solution process typically takes 3-5 business days. Please do not make any changes to your Alberta.ca Account until you hear from an AAIP team member by email.

What is a basic (unverified) Alberta.ca Account?

An Alberta.ca Account gives you online access to many Government of Alberta services and programs. A basic (unverified) Alberta.ca Account can be set up using an email address and you do not need to wait for an activation code to be mailed.

A basic account is the minimum account required to apply to the AAIP. All communications from the AAIP will be completed using same email address that you use for your Alberta.ca Account.
